The Care Calendar 2018.
After the successful production of the CARE Calendar 2016, together with CARE Austria, now the European edition of the calendar will be published for the first time with photographs of the Women’s Rights, which originated in the aid projects in Kenya, initiated by CARE Austria.
Informations about the charity project in Kisumu:
Kisumu is the third largest city in Kenya and lies at the shores of Lake Victoria in the west of the country. Here, CARE and two local partner organisations are implementing a project to provide quality maternal and child health. Despite all the progress already made, over 5% of Kenya’s children die before their fifth birthday.
Health work and awareness raising greatly depends on the work of voluntary helpers, the so-called community health volunteers who share their knowledge about health topics as well as infant and child care with women in their communities.
Kisumu has the highest rate of HIV infections in the country. Every fifth inhabitant is HIV positive. Besides family planning, another focus of CARE’s project therefore lies in raising awareness about effective prevention measures and the risks of HIV.
CARE was founded in 1945. Today, CARE works in 94 countries around the world, implementing development and humanitarian aid projects to reach more than 80 million people each year.
